What it does

Open Desk is a web application that assists with learning by digitally sharing notes to students, allowing them to revise or catch up in school. This is especially useful when students miss extended periods of time. Through Open Desk, students can efficiently upload notes, ask questions, and leave constructive comments or answers, creating a centralized learning platform for students to utilize.

In order to make taking notes and learning much more engaging and enjoyable, integrated AI coaches synthesize notes, create customized tests, and improve writing skills. Open Desk employs a digital rewards system that incentivizes participation to gamify learning and cooperation. These strategies maintain engagement amongst students.

With real-time syncing, Google authentication, and a custom Indexing Engine that tags uploaded notes by subject for rapid search queries, the web application is built on Next.js and Tailwind CSS. We also used Firebase API for authentication and server-side data storage. Open Desk exists to show that helping others truly feels worthwhile and that unfortunate absence from school doesn't mean getting left behind.
